ALO Audio Center provides a ripper, a burner, an editor, and a converter in one intuitive, good-looking control panel. Our only complaint with the interface was its inconsistency: it devotes two main icons to functions that transform RM files to MP3 and vice versa, while other conversion tasks take place in a separate window. We'd prefer a more integrated approach. Still, the conversion tools work just fine and support a large number of formats. The editor, with its effects and filters, displays a large view of the waveform and shouldn't confuse most users. The CD-ripping utility works fine with all formats and can now retrieve track information from the Web. ALO Audio Center's performance has greatly improved since previous versions, and we think this package will please users who are looking for versatility without complexity.
